ithink it is d greatest evils which altho had been eradicated ealier is however'still praticed rigourously in some parts of india. As per my latest survey, madhya pradesh tops d list of dowry deaths n west bengal is only 2nd in d list.it is thus, mandatory 2 wipe dis evil from its vry roots by adopting measures as imposing heavy fines, claiming indemnity n imprisonment 4 lifetime.

a girls father is more worried about her daughter . he is sending a girl to other place so he is very much considered about the place and the people . he gives a gift to them in the form of dowry to look after her child . being practical this is good because no one looks after someone until they are benefited , so dowry has to be given . and being more practical everyone knows that dowry is a crime but still going on . everyhuman being expects something and it is foolishness to talk this way that it is affecting , it is bad and all that . this is in the case when the daughter is going to mother - in -laws place . coming to other view there is no need to give dowry if couple lives seperately . because they should lead their life and it is their life . the only concern is if she is going to stay in mother in laws place there is no other way to pay dowry except in some rare situations and conditions.

It s universal truth dat dowry syatem is curse 4 men & women as well. Both should try 2 cope up with this. Bt nw a days it is b'coz of women's side. The high and affluent class people try 2 show of and gives a lot of dowry. So they r most responsible 4 this.

its said that dowry originated in the upper caste families as a wedding gift to the bride from her family.but gradually it took a vicious transformation because its meaning was never understood by people as such.may be dowry was a name given to the gifts or a kind of blessed help given by bride's family with love in order to aid their daughter's future married life, the thing to note and to be highlighted is it was never demanded but parents give it as a blessing with love . but actually dowry meant a type of extortion being demanded by groom's family and what the bride's parent get back in exchange of that is an assurance that their daughter would not be tortured or mistreated in her in-laws which is pathetic. and their greed then knows no bound, their mouth keep on opening wider, their demands keep on broadening till the poor parents succumb and thats where women are burnt threatened punishd and physically harassed. now talking about the statistics The official records of these incidents are low because they are often reported as accidents or suicides by the family. In Delhi, a woman is burned to death almost every twelve hours . The number of dowry murders is increasing. In 1988, 2,209 women were killed in dowry related incidents and in 1990, 4,835 were killed . It is important to reiterate that these are official records, which are immensely under reported. The lack of official registration of this crime is apparent in Delhi, where ninety percent of cases of women burnt were recorded as accidents, five percent as suicide and only the remaining five percent were shown as murder .according to Government figures there were a total of 5,377 dowry deaths in 1993, an increase of 12% from 1992. despite the existence of rigorous laws to prevent dowry-deaths under a 1986 amendment to the Indian penal code convictions are rare, and judges are often uninterested and susceptible to bribery.recent newspaper reports have focused on the alarming rate of deaths of married women in hamirpur, mandi and bilaspur districts in the state of himachal pradesh.though urban areas to a large extent have condemned the useless practise but still govt. is totally inefficient in completely eradicating the same. its already a menace to the society and to women and her family in particular who face the brunt of this hell ritual.wake up people its 2010 and all the "dowry struck grooms union" just stop feeding urselves in the name of dowry .if u have some shame left .
